HACKERS TAKE CONTROL OF IFMIS

ALERT: Hackers have taken over the control of the website of Kenya's national payment system, IFMIS, two days after President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered that all pending bills be paid. IFMIS stands do for  Integrated Financial Management Information System. It is an automated system that
is used for public financial management. It interlinks planning, budgeting, expenditure
management and control, accounting, audit and reporting. It is not clear if the actual payment system is also affected.
If so, the move might result in loss of crucial information on disbursements from the national government to all who provided goods and services to the government. Also, records of disbursements to County governments would be affected. There could also be a loss of vital information of what has been paid, what is pending and what is scheduled. The move could disrupt key government functions. More details to follow. The website is currently offline.
